Tekelec announced today that it was tapped by Ring 9 to deploy its Tekelec ( News - Alert) 6000 VoIP Application Server to enhance the company's VoIP offerings targeted at small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
The SIP-based Tekelec 6000 provides hosted private branch exchange (PBX ( News - Alert)) services that will then allow Ring 9 to offer a more flexible business service package to its customers.
“The Tekelec 6000 offers a scalable, integrated solution to support our aggressive growth plans, while delivering the highest quality of VoIP applications to our customers,” said Ring 9's CEO John Nelson in a statement. “Deploying the Tekelec 6000 enables us to provide business-quality services for additional uptake and prevent margin erosion.”
According to Tekelec’s news release, with the Tekelec 6000 in place, operators are able to deploy a range of services such as “unified messaging , softphone with multimedia capabilities, conferencing, find-me, and intelligent Web portal and voice mail capabilities.”
Tekelec made news last month when it announced that it was tapped by Contact Solutions to deploy two Tekelec 7000 Class 5 Packet Switches to support its interactive voice response (IVR ) applications.
Contact Solutions provides automated customer services to clients in the telecom, government, service and transportation industries. The Tekelec 7000 softswitches can integrate VoIP networking capabilities to boost the operator's IVR business operations.
