Citrix Demos Avistar C3 Media Engine

By Vivek Naik, TMCnet Contributor

Avistar Communications has announced that its Avistar C3 (News - Alert) Media Engine was recently part of a demonstration along with the Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop products.

Official at the company claim that their architected platform is the only visual communications package that works without any installation, integration, latency, quality, experience and volume steaming glitches with Citrix products

The solution can deduce the best way to integrate high quality, scalable video and audio conferencing as part of the unified communications experience on the desktop, and core functionality task such as establishing a video or audio call. Also, it can perform trans-rating and transcoding in a separate piece of technology that ensures high connectivity, reliability, audio and video synchronization—all working in accord via a componentized plug in.

"Until now, there was a tremendous pent up demand but no visual communications solutions for the terminal and thin client market. Avistar (News - Alert) solves an important issue for Citrix users by providing a robust visual communications experience while leveraging all the benefits of the Citrix platform," said Chris Lauwers (News - Alert), Chief Technology Officer for Avistar.

The company says that its communications solution forms an important part of comprehensive third party unified communications experience on the desktop and thin client, and allows companies to promote their brands and add value of their own products in the market because it enables desktop communications within any application framework or Web space.

Avistar’s core strength and business is desktop video communications. Its products are installed in more than a hundred thousand desktops across the globe. Significant businesses such as Sony, LifeSize (News - Alert) Communications, and Polycom are using its solution for their cross continental video communications.

Avistar has asserted that technology partners need not have to rebuild their communications platform if they want to integrate visual communications experience into their solutions; all they need to do is to opt for Avistar. They also need not move past instant messaging and VoIP integration, or sacrifice high quality, high performance videoconferencing to fasten their time to market. As the company notes their feature-rich and cost effective Avistar C3 Media Engine completes a company’s unified visual communications strategy.

Avistar works with technology partners and resellers, in more than 40 countries, such as IBM to provide bandwidth management for Unified Communications (News - Alert), ClearOne for speaker and phone integration, City Information Services (CityIS) for distribution and reselling of its C3 product in Singapore and parts of Asia, NetServices and Touchline Video and Beyondis for the same function in the UK, and Fontel for marketing and distributorship in the US.

Avistar’s recent successes may be gauged from its fiscal results for 2008 when total income it earned from its normal business practices, or revenue was up by 62 percent from 2007.
Avistar also notes that it is confident and ready to achieve a 75 percent growth in 2009.
