click2try Adds iFolder Mobile Computing Solution to Catalog

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

click2try, a community-driven Web site for sourcing, testing, evaluating, and hosting existing open source software products on pre-configured virtual appliances, has announced the availability of its latest file sharing and backup application, iFolder 3.7, in its online catalog of virtualized open source applications.

iFolder is an open source project sponsored by Novell (News - Alert) that helps users back up, access and manage personal files from any location. The application automatically updates local files onto a network server, and synchronizes them onto other computers in use.

An important feature of iFolder is that it gives users collaborative access to shared files. Using secure sockets layer (SSL) technology and encryption, iFolder keeps the distributed and shared data secure while also providing a number of advanced features such as LDAPGroup Support and file merge.

Officials claim that iFolder enables true mobile computing and allows users to access the files from wherever they are. iFolder can also be used as an automated backup system. It can even store Microsoft (News - Alert) Exchange PST files, allowing users to access their personal mail folders.

“iFolder is a great tool for sharing files among team members, and for getting access to your own files from a remote location,” said Tom Callaghan, click2try VP of Technical Services. “Combined with Kablink Teaming, iFolder gives click2try users a powerful way to collaborate, share files, and work remotely.”
